Kawasaki’s general purpose robots are traditional 6-axis robots with payloads in the range of 3kg to 1500kg. This category of robot is designed to be compatible with many of the common applications found in manufacturing. That being said there are sub-categories of this type that are geared towards a more specific application such as welding or painting. The sub-categories include: material handling, pick and place, welding, painting, machine tending, assembly, sealing and dispensing, spot and arc welding, and palletizing.

Productive Robotics is an all American Company and Manufacturer of their own product the OB7 Collaborative Robot and are headquartered in Carpinteria, CA. Their Product line consists of 4kg, 5kg, 8kg, and 12kg collaborative robots. These robots also feature a unique 7th axis of motion located in the wrist of the robot enabling the arm to reach around obstacles, much like how a human arm and hand could reach around a door frame. They now offer two new weld packages designed for small repetitive welding applications.

Palletizing Robots are considered a sub-category of General Purpose Robots with a few key differences distinguishing them from other robots when it comes to palletizing items. These robots only contain 5 axes of motion; while this may seem like a disadvantage this allows for weight and power saving as well as an increase in speed and efficiency. It is also common for these robots to feature a brace between the 2nd and 3rd axes of motion to provide structural stability. These robots are high speed and long reach.
